Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 25 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Ankur Gupta, the independent developer who builds and runs TabSplit ("TabSplit", "we", "us") and govern your use of the TabSplit app and website (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.
1. What TabSplit is — and isn't
TabSplit is a tool for recording shared expenses and working out who owes whom. TabSplit does not hold, send or receive money. Settlements you record in the app are a record only; any actual payment happens outside TabSplit, between you and the other person. We are not a bank, payment provider or party to any debt between users.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service.
- Give accurate information and keep it up to date.
- Keep your password secret. You are responsible for activity under your account; tell us promptly at support@tabsplit.online if you think it has been compromised.
3. Your content
You own the expenses, notes, receipts and other content you add ("Your Content"). You give us a limited licence to store, process and display Your Content only as needed to run the Service — for example, showing an expense to the members of the group it belongs to. You are responsible for having the right to share Your Content, including the contact details of people you add or invite.
4. Groups, invitations and share links
Content you add to a group is visible to everyone in that group. Group admins can invite members and create share links; anyone with an active share link can see what it exposes until it is revoked. Only invite people who expect to hear from you.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for anything unlawful, fraudulent or to harass others;
- send spam or unwanted invitations;
- upload malware or content that infringes others' rights;
- try to access accounts or data that aren't yours, or probe, disrupt or overload our systems;
- copy, resell or reverse engineer the Service except as the law allows.
6. Accuracy of calculations
Balances and suggested settlements are calculated from the information users enter. We work hard to make them correct, but you should check the figures before paying anyone. We are not responsible for losses caused by incorrect entries or for disputes between users.
7. Availability and changes
We may change, suspend or discontinue features, and the Service may sometimes be unavailable for maintenance or reasons outside our control. We will try to give notice of significant changes. Please keep your own copies of important records — you can export group data from the app.
8. Ending your use
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put other users or the Service at risk. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as 6, 9 and 10) continue to apply.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind to the extent the law allows. To the extent permitted by law, TabSplit will not be liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for loss of data or profits. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes will be handled by the courts of India, unless the law of your country of residence gives you the right to bring proceedings there.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change is significant, we will notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use the Service afterwards means you accept the updated terms.
12. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal information.
